About The Course

The course is normally taught by Catechists through a series of fun sessions usually on Sunday mornings in the parish centre, next to the church. The sessions start at 9:40 am, but we ask children to arrive by 9:30 am at the latest so they are ready to begin their session. They finish at 10:20 am in time for families to attend 10:30 am Mass, if they wish. There may be a couple of evening sessions at the beginning of the programme from 6:00 pm-7:00 pm.

The children and young people are taught in small groups and learn through readings, role-play, stories and activities which follow the “I Belong” book.

Each year the Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated in February and the Sacrament of First Holy Communion takes place in May in St. Barnabas Cathedral, Nottingham.

Course Dates

The First Holy Communion Day 2023 at St Barnabas Cathedral is TBC.
