Nottingham Diocesan Catholic Youth Service

NDCYS“The Nottingham Diocesan Catholic Youth Service provides opportunities for young people to discover community, come to a friendship with Christ and a deeper awareness of themselves”

The beginnings of the Nottingham Diocesan Catholic Youth Service can be traced back to the 1960s when Lady Albermarle produced a report on the ‘Training of part-time Youth Leaders’. A National College was established in Leicester to train people in youth work and a Catholic Youth Service Council emerged in partnership with local authorities. In our own diocese, retreats for boys had been taking place for some time at Mount St Mary’s College, Spinkhill, many parishes had youth clubs and the Diocesan Youth Committee did valiant work all over the diocese.

Society for the Protection of Unborn Children

SPUC campaigns for legal protection for innocent human beings from conception to natural death. Thus, we are concerned with issues such as abortion, euthanasia and embryo research.

The Nottingham Branch of SPUC meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month (except August). We provide speakers in schools, lobby MPs, run fundraising events and so on.

We are always looking for people to help out in any way. The local contact is David Paton, telephone number (0115) 923 1397. Or visit our branch website at www.spucnottingham.org.uk or email us at enquiry@spucnottingham.org.uk

The National Association of Catholic Families

We are helping families to build the new civilisation of love. What we are is essentially very simple. We are Catholic families who try to give one another mutual, moral, spiritual and social support in a culture which is now at war with our values. This we do by linking committed Catholic families locally, nationally and internationally but always with the simple intention of mutual support.

We are answering the call by our Holy Father, Pope John Paul, for families to be what they are. The work of the NACF is based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Familiaris Consortio, The Holy See’s Charter of the Rights of the Family and Evangelium Vitae.
