The Holy Spirit Sports Club
The Holy Spirit Sports Club was formed at a meeting in May 2006. The club is run mainly but not exclusively for Catholics living in our local Diocese of South Nottingham. The club aims to reinforce the values of the Catholic community through sport in a safe & competitive environment.

Set up initially from the Holy Spirit Church in West Bridgford it also aims to include Our Lady of Grace at Cotgrave, Corpus Christi at Clifton, Widmerpool, Wilford, Keyworth and East Leake parishes.

The club started up with a football section in September 2006, since then the golf club and cricket club have been incorporated into the sports club.

The objectives of the club are:

Creation of an official Parish Sports Club with a constitution, financial transparency, clear managing and organising accountability, also the ability to apply for grants and possibly charitable status.

Ability to submit a strong application for a National Lottery Grant to develop the Becket School Sports facilities and other Catholic school facilities where requested.

Ability to set up a single bank account with a branch accounts for each constituent sports club. This would ensure transparency of all finances, income and expenditure for each sport and consolidation on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis for the Sports Club.

Auditing of the accounts and an AGM report

Consolidation of the funds would enable setting up a savings account to earn interest and provide start up funding for new sports.

Decisions about donation of surplus funds to Catholic charities, schools or sports activities would be facilitated.

The Committee is made up of the President (Parish Priest), Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary and 1 Member from each constituent sport. Meetings are held a maximum four times a year including the AGM.
