PURPOSE OF MEETINGS
a. To build up a spiritual and social community within the Parish.
b. To encourage and support each other in strengthening our faith.
c. To bring our faith more into our daily lives
d. To enable us to provide a truly Christian support system to each other when needed with prayer and practical help for each other. This would naturally result from local groups. For example, if there is somebody housebound in the group’s area, all the local Catholics members would be aware and would be able to pop and say hello from time to time to break the loneliness. They would be part of the group. Members of the group might take turns to get the person to meetings, Mass etc. In an ideal Christian world, this would enable everyone in the Parish to feel part of the Parish family

MEETING MONTHLY?
This is because parishioners often belong to other groups in the Parish and would find it a burden to meet weekly. The pilot group has tended to meet every two weeks. The frequency of meetings and their location and times will be established to fit in with the needs of the members.

MEETINGS BASED ON LOCATION
We are a very large Parish and it would be wonderful to create smaller local support networks. Nobody should be lonely in our Parish. The Parish is made up of all ages and so we should incorporate, somehow, eventually, all ages, if possible into the groups. This would be a challenge, but just envision the Christian Community that could potentially develop. Initially the groups would be for all adults, from age 16-106.

MEETINGS BASED ON COMMON INTEREST/SITUATIONS
If the main/area meetings are monthly, it might be possible to have other meetings within the month, or alternate months. For example, young adults in the Church could have a meeting. Teenagers could have a meeting. Mothers from school could have a meeting. This is an opportunity to turn common social bonds into deeper spiritual and social bonds.
