e) Parish pastoral plan – review of section 3 education actions

MES gave feedback of suggestions made by the fellowship group e.g. monthly speakers, with Q+A sessions, weekly topics in the summer term (similar to Fr Matthews sessions) followed by a discussion group, Catholic study group in the library on Saturday mornings, café talks on the creed, the deanery to buy in education literature to share with all parishes, having bibles available at the back of church for general use.

They also posed a question, ‘is there a need for an Education group’

f) Feedback from Cotgrave meeting

JH reported that there was nothing specific to report, the group talked about sharing best practice, and maybe having the meetings on an annual basis, and to generally support each others various functions and fundraising events.

4. Feedback from diocesan assembly day and deanery pastoral congress (final review of Diocesan Pastoral Plan)

MES reported that the Bishops main message was for parishioners in the diocese to work on "Handing on our Faith", and believes that there is a spiritual growth and a desire to learn more about our faith.

He would like every Deanery to have a celebration next year on how we have handed on our faith this year and how we will continue to do so.

5. Corpus Christi Procession

LB handed our flyers to inform PPC members that the Corpus Christ procession will be on 25th May 2008, after the 10.30am mass, and asked for this to be discussed within their groups.

This year we need a volunteer to organise the marshals, to be discussed at next meeting. Please contact LB for further details

6. Youth Worker

LB and MG reported that we are ready to advertise for a full time youth worker, who will work between the Holy Spirit and three other parishes. It is hoped that the person will be in post by the first week in September. MES suggested asking the parish to pray that we are able to appoint a youth worker.

7. Frequency of PPC meetings

JH discussed the option of meeting bi-monthly, a discussion took place and opinions were divided, but there were not enough PPC members present to make a decision.

To be discussed again in the June meeting. Action JH

8. Fr Greg’s Silver Jubilee arrangements

A mass of celebration will be held on Friday June 20th at 7.30pm in the Church of the Holy Spirit, followed by a shared tabled coordinated by MR. Then on Saturday 21st there will be a live band, Kelly’s Hero’s, playing in the social centre.
