Traidcraft Sales

MC is planning to set up a table for traidcraft goods after weekend masses and will trail this after Christmas. Meanwhile she will look into doing market research to identify which products would be popular and to raise awareness for the venture. Action MC Youth Worker Progress

Fr Quentin from St Edwards attended the last meeting and is very keen for his parish to share a youth worker with the Holy Spirit and Our Lady of Grace. The youth worker group and Fr. Joe Wheat will do a presentation of their work so far, at the next denary meeting on 31st Jan 08. The aim of this is to encourage other parishes to share resources to employ a full time youth worker. The recruitment process will begin in Feb 08. Action VL.MC.LB PARISH PASTORAL PLAN

All elements of the PPP have planned review dates; to enable informed discussions at PPC meetings, these dates will be given to PPC members one month in advance.

Education is the next element to be reviewed; there will be a full discussion in Jan 08.

We also need on ongoing discussions on,’ what else can we do to enhance pastoral life’. Action All

Phil W canvassed the opinion of the parish music group leaders and a variety of alternative options were suggested:

Action, for all members to discuss in their groups and generally with parishioners, then to feedback at the December meeting.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CARD

Your help is requested to pack cards up into appropriate packs at 8pm on Wednesday 5th December in the Social Centre.

To be distributed by the parish from the following weekend, help will also be needed to hand packs out at all masses.

Publicity for PPC meetings and PPC feedback

Are regular items in the newsletter.

Reader’s rota

Vicky Acklam has organised the reader’s rota for the next year, there are still some gaps so please encourage people to think about becoming a reader.

4. Personnel at Christmas Masses

PPC members who volunteered to help at the Christmas masses are invited to attend a planning meeting on Thursday 22nd Nov; 7.30pm main liturgy meeting in the social centre or 8.30pm in the church.

5. Joint meeting with Cotgrave PPC

This will take place on Wednesday 20th February 08 at Our Lady of Grace.

6. Fellowship Groups

MES informed the group about the role and activities of the fellowship groups (with handouts) and gave invitations to an open fellowship meeting at 8pm on 28 November in the Social Centre; They have 28 members and meetings are held;

Once a month on Monday evenings

Twice a month on Wednesday evenings

Twice a month on Thursday afternoons.

There will be a social night open to all on Saturday 15th December in the Social Centre.

7 Lent groups

VL reported back from CTWB who would like to have two lent groups running, a day time one in the Methodist Church, and an evening on in the Church of the Holy Spirit. A suggestion had been made for it to be on Tuesday evenings.

GT suggested asking the fellowship group to organise the sessions, to be held on one of their meeting nights.

This will be discussed with CTWB and the fellowship group. Action VL

8. PARISH FEEDBACK

A parishioner suggested that we have trolley sited by the front doors to the church to collect hymn books and mass sheets to reduce the congestion at the end of mass.

GT thinks it is a good idea but we do not need another trolley, just another way of collecting them in. PL to reply to parishioner via PPC feedback e-mail.

MES reported that parishioners wanted to donate religious books to the library when it opens and for a sign to be placed in the narthex asking people to keep a respectful silence in church; there is a sign in situ.

PPC received a nice thank you card from Marina.

The meeting was closed with a prayer.

NEXT MEETING: 8pm Wednesday 12th December 2007 in the Social Centre

This is the last one before Christmas so please bring along some mince pies and nibbles.
