Parish Library
No progress to report
Traidcraft Sales
MC has ordered Traidcraft Christmas cards and Traidcraft stock will be available at the Christmas Charity Market. MC hopes to liaise with Cotgrave parish in sharing their stock and boosting Traidcraft sales in our parish. Action MC Update on DVD of parish events
VL has not yet heard back from South Notts College about this and it was decided to shelve the DVD concept for now. It was noted that CC’s photo presentation at the recent AGM was well received. CC offered to repeat the exercise next year and will use the newsletter to request photos from parish events during the year. Action CC Youth Worker Progress
LB reported that all paperwork is now ready and the group are currently consulting with young people in the parish. They hope to advertise for a fully qualified youth worker within the next few months. Little interest about sharing a Youth Worker has yet been expressed by neighbouring parishes. GT indicated that funding for a part time Youth Worker for a year should be available from the parish and asked the Youth Worker committee to approach the parish Finance Committee for funding.
3. PARISH PASTORAL PLAN
a) "To encourage the Liturgy Group to play a greater role in the co-ordination of ministries"
The Liturgy Groups meet twice a year, before Christmas and Easter, and have input at these points. GT suggests there is room for creativity at these points. CC suggests that when we have a Youth Worker he or she can work with our young people to develop ideas in specialist liturgy packs, such as that for Racial Justice Sunday.
b) "Using a section within the weekly newsletter to explain and present reflections on aspects of the liturgy"
GT reported that he and PV are planning themed homilies with background reflections and catechism references for the newsletter during Advent. He noted that the Fellowship Groups do excellent work in preparing for the weekend’s readings.
c) "To ensure that those parishioners and visitors with disabilities have full access to the liturgy and Sacraments"
LB presented a paper "Disability awareness in the Church of the Holy Spirit" which reviewed progress in this field and highlighted further areas for improvement. These included
4. OPERATION CHRISTMAS CARD
The Card Committee will organise the ordering of the cards & envelopes and will organise labelled boxes. It was decided that packs of cards will be distributed to parishioners at the weekend Masses of 8/9 December and 15/16 December. Your help is requested to pack cards up into appropriate packs at 8pm on Wednesday 5 December in the Social Centre.
5. PARISH FEEDBACK
MC reported that the "Hail Holy Queen" prayer cards have been well received and suggested we produce something similar for children.
LB suggested that each month we publicise the date of the next PPC meeting and at the same time publish the PPC feedback email address. MR offered to contact Peter Swarbrick to set this in motion. Action MR
6.A.O.B.
a) Readers’ Rota – LB urged us to ensure that parishioners with disabilities are encouraged to participate. A new rota is needed for Advent. Vicky Acklam is exploring possible volunteers to take over producing the rota and IM will also try to recruit for this. Action IM It was also noted that the newsletter references to the rota are out of sync with the rota itself. MR will look at this. Action MR
b) PPC Baby !! – Many congratulations to Marina & Phil Johnson on the birth of their baby daughter.
The meeting was closed with a prayer.
