1. MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 2006 MEETING

a) Fellowship groups & the PPP

VL had nothing to report at the moment but will continue to explore the possibility of a link between the two. Mary Elliott Smith would like to know about other prayer groups existing in the parish. Please feed any information through MD.

b) Welcome Ministry

MC circulated a paper she has produced which summarises the ideas discussed at the Welcome Ministry meeting at Mackworth on 24/10/06. MD circulated a leaflet given out at the meeting. MC & MD hope to organise a meeting with greeters to disseminate useful information from the evening. MC will e mail her paper to PPC members who were unable to attend the November meeting. Action MC & MD

d) Parish Library

Some discussion took place & possible temporary storage space was identified but more discussion about long term storage is needed Action MD, MG & PhilW

  1. Electrical inspections reports & completion certificates
  2. GT reported that we are still waiting for these to be finalised.

  3. Youth Leader sub-committee
  4. VL reported that two meetings have been held. The first explored the progress in the Derby Deanery, where 8 parishes have collaborated to provide 5 years of

funding for a full time Youth Leader. Helpful ideas were gained about the selection process & details of the job description are awaited. The second meeting explored the likely profile of a Youth Leader in our parish. The next meeting will focus on developing a job description.

GT is exploring the possibility of inviting nearby parishes to join in the project.

CC stressed the need for close links with schools.

  5. Day for Life issues
  6. Some discussion was held about parking facilities in front of the Social Centre bar for parishioners who are not fully able. The outcomes of the discussion were that

MC will investigate the painting of white lines to mark out spaces Action MC

and LB will place a request in the newsletter for these parking spaces to be left for the use of parishioners who really need them and who have difficulty in walking long distances (to be monitored if possible by the MCs) Action LB

  7. Christmas

GT announced that he has decided to celebrate an extra Mass at 4.30pm on Christmas Eve to ease the potential overcrowding at the 6.30pm Mass. He asked that all PPC members are proactive at the Christmas Masses and that they help to clear up after each Mass. Volunteer names were put forward to cover some of the key roles at the Christmas masses. Contingency plans for dealing with overcrowding situations will be discussed at a meeting on 9 November with the Christmas planning group set up last meeting.

MR reported that the cards for "Operation Christmas Card" will not be ready for dispatch until the end of November. It will be necessary to package them up before the December PPC meeting on 13 December. MR will circulate a venue & time in due course. Action MR
