Accepted and any matters arising are dealt with in the sections below.
Feedback from Ecumenical AGM (MJ), The Evangelistic strategy aims to ask 500 practising Christians in West Bridgford to evangelise 3 people each. Debate was generated about this strategy and how it fits into the ethos of the RC church. It was decided that volunteers from the PPC will attend meetings at this years programme and feedback their opinions to the PPC, this will enable the group to make an informed decision about regarding any involvement in next years programme.
The volunteers are MJ, AM, JE, VA, LB, VL.
Agenda
Housekeeping (IM)
Parish Pastoral Plan (VL) informed us that the planning group meets once a month and has a different topic for each meeting the last one focused on communication and discussed gaps and unmet needs in the parish. She will circulate the outcomes of the meetings to all PPC members and invites people to either attend or send comments to her. The next meeting is at 8pm on Wed 22nd June.
Terms of reference/objectives (PMoly) said that he would like to see support and co-ordination of parish groups incorporated in the PPCs aims and objectives.
He also asked if a public event was being planned to celebrate the opening of the Church and social centre.
(GT) responded, and proposed that we had a social evening to welcome FR Vincent back for the summer and to ask him to officially open the social centre. This was agreed and plans are being made to stage the event on Saturday 9th July.
(GT) also proposed having a social event on the last Friday of the month, and will ask 12 parishioners to organise them.
PPC elections (IM) 2 people have submitted profiles to join the PPC and another person has expressed an interest, therefore an election process is not needed.
Holy Spirit Ecumenical Representative (IM) read out a letter sent by Rev Kevin Clarke, chairman of the Diocesan Ecumenical Commission, asking for one person from the parish to act as contact/representative, for Ecumenism, who will be able to liaise with the commission. Please contact (IM) if you would like to volunteer or would like to propose another person.
Forward Planning (GT/IM)
AOB
(JE) Suggested having a natural family planning course in the parish, to be run by David and Louise Aldred, who run similar courses in Beeston. The PPC agreed to this proposal. (JE) to arrange.
SPUC – (JE) reported that the Undying Flame, and act of witness, lit when the Abortion act was passed in 1968 as a sign of hope for unborn children and their mothers, is in the Good Sheppard, Arnold at the moment and suggested that the Holy Spirit church hosts it the next time that it is in Nottingham in 3yrs time. The PPC agreed and (JE) will make enquiries.
