MINUTES OF JANUARY 2010

Approved

MATTERS ARISING FROM THE JANUARY MINUTES

a)     Cafod Lent Fast – MC explained more about Cafod’s “Give it up” campaign and is liaising with St Edmund Campion and The Becket schools.  There will be a second collection for Cafod on 27/28 February.  Cafod’s Haiti appeal raised £2.75M nationally (£4K raised in W.B. & Cotgrave.)  Fairtrade fortnight (22 Feb-7Mar) will be promoted within the parish.

MC encouraged everyone to Gift Aid their donations.

b)     Lenten Project – MR reported on plans for moving the 10.30am Sunday Mass to the new Becket school.

c)     Volunteer to update roads list – further discussion took place about the value of continuing with “Operation Christmas Card.”  An informal vote resulted in 7 in favour of continuing and 6 undecided.  AM volunteered to update the roads list and JM offered to assist.  It was decided to run the project for one more year, using the revised lists and then review.

CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION

This year’s date falls on Sunday 6 June.

MJ offered to organise this year’s procession, with assistance from AK as we approach the day.

PARISH PASTORAL PLAN

“To promote the formation of parish prayer groups”

In the parish there are three fellowship groups, a Lectio Divina group, a Rosary group who meet in church after morning Mass on Thursdays and a long established monthly prayer group who meet in each others homes.  It was felt that the recent Prayer Taster Sessions had promoted prayer.

It was suggested that the Children’s Liturgy Group could produce a set of prayers for the children to say at home.  It was noted that prayer books are available on the CTS stand in church.

Clive Chapman did not have any response to his suggestion for parishioners to write and share their favourite prayers.  Further prayer groups were not considered necessary at this time.

The meeting closed with a prayer.

Next Meeting
