MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES OF LAST MEETING
1. MD has discovered, since the last meeting, that the Parish Pastoral Plan and the Diocesan Pastoral Plan will run in parallel, rather than the former feeding into the latter. The minutes of July’s meeting will therefore be adjusted accordingly.
2. IM thanked PMoll for producing the parish calendar.
3. SWOT papers – The Core Group will collate information from these during September. It was suggested we encourage more people to fill in these papers. MD suggested we take our time in finalising the collation in order to gather in responses from as many people as possible.
The PPC then split into Mission & Spirituality groups and later reformed into one group. Each group then gave a summary of their discussions (refer to the following sets of minutes for full details)
MISSION GROUP MINUTES
Present : LB(Chair), GT, AM, PMoly, JH, CH, SP, DK, MR(Sec)
SPIRITUALITY GROUP MINUTES
Present: AT, VA (secretary), PMoll, MD (chair), JE
1. Annual calendar: Peter has drawn up a calendar of all the various parish dates, 2004/2005.
After discussion, it was decided that we help coordinate a Liturgical Planning Group (previously meeting as the Liturgy Group, and convened by Father Greg). This would meet two-three times a year, dates for the next meeting being decided at the end of each meeting. This would be an opportunity to bring together various groups and look ahead to events coming up, and ensure that each area is being organised by someone. The next meeting is on 30 September, 7.30pm. Father to let MD have list of people to be invited.

2. Harvest Festival:
VA will advertise through newsletter the collection and delivery of goods for Harvest Festival (will contact Jim Madden for advice re best practice and to ensure not overlapping with his work), and will organise display in church. VA to contact youth group/children’s liturgy re artwork to display in church. VA to write bidding prayers.
MD raised the issue of a ‘pot luck’ supper. This would be an opportunity for the parish and parish community to come together for a hot meal, and to invite people from Emmanuel House, the Friary, etc., to join us. We discussed the problems that might arise from such an occasion, e.g. not to give the impression that we were being patronising. It was suggested that perhaps this meal would be an opportunity to invite leaders from Emmanuel House, the Friary etc. to come and talk to us about the work they do, and encourage people to volunteer to help them. In future years perhaps people who have benefited from the help the Friary / Emmanuel House can give would be able to come and talk. Maria awaiting feedback from Emmanuel House/Friary as to their thoughts on this. We felt that we needed to contact someone with experience of organising a similar event for help.
When put to the whole group, it was agreed that the idea of this supper was a good one; however, it was felt that time constraints could perhaps be difficult and so it was decided to hold this event next year.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS
A brief discussion about the diocesan proposal to build a new church for South Notts took place. GT encouraged consultation about the proposal to take place through the PPC and suggested that people with very strong feelings about the matter should write to the diocesan trustees.
It was suggested that the sheet from the diocese outlining their proposals should be displayed on the church noticeboard. Action MR
