3. INTRODUCTION BY FR. GREGORY TOBIN

Father laid out his vision for the P.P.C.

• He explained that canon law lays down that the parish priest has ultimate responsibility for what takes place in his parish and therefore the P.P.C. is not a legislative body but rather a consultative body for pastoral aspects of the parish.
• He has invited people who are already active and committed to the parish to serve on the P.P.C.
• He hoped that members of the P.P.C. would serve for a maximum of 3 years so that the P.P.C. would be able to constantly renew itself.
• He expressed the hope that the P.P.C. would be a model for a Christian community in the sense that it would

• He expressed the hope that the members would widen their horizons from the interest groups they nominally represent to promote the word of God to West Bridgford, Cotgrave & Keyworth.
• He expressed the hope that the P.P.C. would be able to set priorities for its work and suggested that it may be advantageous to split into smaller groups to work on projects … work that could then be fed back to the larger group to ensure accountability.

4. SELF INTRODUCTIONS

Each member introduced themself & expressed their hopes for the P.P.C. Thoughts included the need to reach out to the parish & the wider community and the need to be more welcoming to new parishioners.

5. ASSEMBLY REPORT

Copies of the "Diocesan Assembly Report" were distributed for consideration at home. I.M. invited the group to feed back key ideas & priorities arising from the report. He suggested we discuss these at the next meeting.
