The National Association of Catholic Families
We are helping
families to build the new civilisation of love. What we are is essentially
very simple. We are Catholic families who try to give one another mutual,
moral, spiritual and social support in a culture which is now at war
with our values. This we do by linking committed Catholic families locally,
nationally and internationally but always with the simple intention
of mutual support.
We are answering the call by our Holy Father, Pope John Paul, for families
to be what they are. The work of the NACF is based on the Catechism
of the Catholic Church, Familiaris Consortio, The Holy See's Charter
of the Rights of the Family and Evangelium Vitae.

Saint Vincent de Paul Society
Quite a number of parishes throughout the world
have an 'SVP conference' but for the uninitiated the following extract
from our opening prayers sums up the duties of every SVP member:
Lord Jesus
help us through meeting together to deepen our Vincentian friendship
and answer the call every Christian receives, to seek and find those
who are forgotten, and to bring your love to the suffering or deprived."
A Beacon For Us All
"Today I make an urgent plea to this
nation. Do not neglect your sick and elderly. Do not turn away from the
handicapped and the dying. Do not push them to the margins of society.
For if you do, you will fail to understand that they represent an important
truth. The sick, the elderly, the handicapped and the dying teach
us that weakness is a creative part of human living and that suffering
can be embraced with no loss of dignity. Without the presence of
these people in your midst you might be tempted to think of health, strength
and power as the only important values to be pursued in life. But
the wisdom of Christ and the power of Christ are to be seen in the weakness
of those who share his sufferings. Let us keep the sick and the handicapped
at the centre of our lives. Let us treasure them and recognise with
gratitude the debt we owe them. We begin by imagining that
we are giving to them ; we end by realising that they have enriched us.
May God bless and comfort all who suffer. And may Jesus Christ,
the Saviour of the world and healer of the sick, make his light
shine through human weakness as a beacon for us and for all mankind.
Amen "

We are a group of parishioners
who meet 5 or 6 times each year to support the work of CAFOD. We are
a long standing group founded in 1975.
Are you interested in Third World problems?
Can you help the Group raise funds?
CAFOD (The Catholic Fund for
Overseas Development) began in 1962 and is now one of the largest
relief and development agencies in the UK. It supports over 1,000
projects in more than 80 countries around the world, and because CAFOD
works with partners it can respond quickly to urgent local needs.
It also helps people set up projects that they can maintain long term
thus helping people to help themselves.
CAFOD uses your donations to
relieve suffering and distress in the Third World wherever the need
is greatest regardless of race or religion.
We look forward to hearing
from anyone who is willing to help in the Group, or you can support
us by placing donations in the CAFOD BOX (at the back of the church
weekends only). Please mark your donations with your intention if
you want the money to go to any appeal, otherwise the money goes to
the Challenge of the Year.
